In an industry were designers like Karl Lagerfield make it publicly known that they “hate fat people”, Vogue Italia has stepped out to honor the plus sized model! A BOLD STEP in the fashion world. Franca Sozzani, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, recruited plus-size models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley (all size 12 to 16 US) to show off their ‘plus’ curves in seductive lingerie.
Sozzani is committed to featuring more plus-size beauties in the high-fashion magazine from now on. Here’s what she says:
‘Fashion has been always blamed as one of the culprits of anorexia, and our commitment is the proof that fashion is ready to get on the frontline and struggle against the disorder… Why should these women slim down? ‘Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine.’’
Now for the NAKED TRUTH:
Kudos for Sozzani for that, but we must make sure in the process we don’t leave out that it’s not about being skinny as much as it is about being healthy. We can not analyze fat from a beauty stand point but rather as a issue of health, and skinny likewise. All skinny people are not health, trust and believe!
